Surprise Trip to Arizona
Hello Everybody & Welcome back!
As many of you probably saw on social media, my sister & I, recently took a trip out to Arizona! Our parents have officially turned into snow birds, and headed south for the winter, so we had to follow! While we miss having them nearby, it is amazing to have somewhere warm to visit when Chicago gets a liiiiiitle too cold for us ;) The best part about this trip is that my mom had no idea we were coming (my dad wasn't supposed to know either, but that is a whole different story)!
Now if you know my mom, you know that this surprise was NOT easy to pull off, because that lady knows EVERYTHING. It took a lot of lying (sorry mom), but we did it! Since Kelsey and I had to work on Friday we didn't get to their house in Arizona until 11PM, and I think she was so tired/surprised she didn't even recognize us. The whole thing was priceless!
These beautiful flowers are all over the state, and I desperately wish I could have these in the city
Since we got in so late on Friday we pretty much went right to bed, and officially started our weekend together Saturday morning! We woke up & went for a hike, got Starbucks, visited my Grandma, had In-N-Out Burger, got pedicures, and went out to an awesome bar for dinner. I literally could not describe a more perfect Saturday if I tried..
If you are ever in the Chandler, AZ area, check out San Tan Flats. It's a group of 4 out door bars, with awesome live music!
Sunday morning was very laid back, and we primarily just hung out before my dad had to go to the airport! He was heading back to Chicago, of course while we were in Arizona, but we were happy to get a solid day and a half with him! After he left we hit the outlet mall, and got dinner. Very relaxing, which felt so amazing.
Monday morning we got up, and headed to Scottsdale! I had heard great things about the town, and wanted to check it out. The town was okay, but let me tell you all, I had the BEST Mexican food of my life there. Oh my godddd, I'm literally still day dreaming about it! If you are ever in Scottsdale, I don't care what you are doing, you NEED to go to The Mission. I really don't even see it as an option at this point. These photos don't even do it justice..
I mean how adorable?
Order the prickly-pear margarita.. You will not regret a thing
The street corn, the table side guacamole, the warm chips, OH MY
These were the SMALLEST tacos I've ever seen, but they were AMAZING
Tuesday morning we pretty much got up, lounged around for a little bit, got ready, and headed to the airport. BUT since it was Valentines Day, we obviously had to stop and treat ourselves to a doughnut! This was honestly the best doughnut I've ever had. (Kind of seeing a theme with all the food I've eaten in Arizona).
My Valentine Doughnut Dates
Overall this trip was AMAZING, and I am so glad we got to spend some time in Arizona with our parents! I miss them everyday, but it is easy to see why they love it out there so much. It's always a tough goodbye, but I am looking forward to the upcoming weekends in Chicago, and hopefully some warmer weather in the Midwest!
Until next time!
XO
